My name is John, and I am a CERTIRIFED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ with over 7 years of experience. I am dedicated to providing life-long service to you and your family, with a focus on tax solution planning for retirement income.

Claire and I married in Bermuda in 2018, and we have a 2-year-old son named Zac. We always enjoy hiking, camping, and being outdoors. 

We love spending time in both Indianapolis, IN, where we are from, and Mesa, AZ, where we enjoy the beautiful weather and mountains. 

We are ambitious RVers and most recently, went on a tour of the United States for 6 months full-time! 

I bring to my financial planning practice. Just as in ultrarunning, achieving financial goals requires dedication, planning, and a long-term perspective. I am committed to empowering my clients achieve their financial goals and cross the finish line to financial freedom.

CERTIRIFED FINANCIAL PLANNER™

The CERTIRIFED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ certification is a professional designation granted by the Certified Financial Planner Board of Standards, Inc. in the United States. The CFP® certification is considered one of the most prestigious and respected certifications in the financial planning industry.

To attain the CFP® certification, individuals must meet a rigorous set of requirements, which include:

  1. Education: Candidates must hold a bachelor's degree or higher from an accredited college or university. The degree can be in any field of study, but it must be from an institution recognized by the U.S. Department of Education.

  2. CFP Education Coursework: Candidates must complete a specific set of coursework, including financial planning principles, investment planning, tax planning, retirement planning, and estate planning.

  3. Experience: Candidates must have at least three years of full-time, relevant personal financial planning experience.

  4. Examination: Candidates must pass a comprehensive, six-hour CFP exam, which tests their knowledge in financial planning, investments, taxation, retirement planning, and estate planning.

  5. Ethics: Candidates must adhere to the CFP Board's Standards of Professional Conduct and Ethics, which require them to act as a fiduciary and always act in their clients' best interests.

  6. Continuing Education: CFP® professionals are required to complete 30 hours of continuing education every two years to maintain their certification.

Financial Planning and Counseling

PURDUE UNIVERSITY

At Purdue University, students pursuing a degree in financial planning and counseling will complete a combination of classroom instruction, case studies, and experiential learning opportunities.

The program covers topics such as personal finance, financial planning, insurance, estate planning, investments, and retirement planning, among others.

Upon completion of the program, students would be well-equipped to pursue a career as a financial planner and could consider obtaining additional certifications or designations, such as the Certified Financial Planner (CFP) designation.
